Ryhope Village Conservation Area


Ryhope Village Conservation Area ( CA) is concentrated around the village green and so most of the map above. There are two pubs and two clubs, non of which sell real ale. One pub is a Grade II listed building.
The Albion

The Albion is in a prominent position overlooking the village green. Owned by Punch Taverns this is a food led pub. The image below ( thanks to Ron Lawson) was taken in the 1950’s Albion, Sunderland – CAMRA Experience

Derwenthurst and The Farmers Clubs

Derwenthurst Club, Ryhope – CAMRA Experience

The Farmers is also known as the Ryhope Village and District Club. The name Farmers comes from the village’s farming roots. To the side of the club there used to be a cattle market Farmers, Ryhope – CAMRA Experience
Railway Inn


So named because it was close to the former Ryhope Station- from the pub in Robson place looking East the old footbridge can still be seen. This pub used to sell real ale,, but Covid put paid the that. Dating from the late eighteenth century, the building is Grade ii listed THE RAILWAY INN, Non Civil Parish – 1207118 | Historic England
