Whitburn Conservation Area <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whitburn Village <\/strong>is situated on the A183 Coast Road between South Shields and Sunderland. Closer to the latter but just inside the South Tyneside boundary. About half a mile to the east are the sea cliffs between Seaburn and Marsden. The conservation area eastern boundary runs down the centre of East Street, the A183. This means that Blues Micro Pub ( where the right hand most bus stop is ( see map) ) is outside the area. A former pub, The Grey Horse, is opposite Blues but is now a Coop Store. The boundary extends inland for about half a mile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jolly Sailor<\/strong> dates from 1828. In 1949 it was owned by Robert Deuchar Ltd then Bass (North) Ltd. Punch Taverns took it over after Bass. The pub features in CAMRA’s Best Real Heritage Pub Guide ( see links at bottom ). It became a South Tyneside locally listed building in 2023 thanks to CAMRA efforts<\/p>\n\n\n

Whitburn & Marsden Social Club<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Whitburn & Marsden Social Club<\/strong> can be found between North Guards and Front Street. The boundary walls, gates and piers feature in South Tyneside locally list <\/p>\n\n\n
